Civic Addressing

Each property in the Municipality of Trent Lakes can be assigned a civic number, also known as a green number or 911 number. This number is assigned to identify a building or property. Civic numbers are assigned by the Municipality.

Apply for a new civic number

You can request for a new civic number from the Recreation & Facilities Department. When you request a new civic number, we require:

  • A completed site plan. This must show the distance from your adjacent side lots to the proposed entrance & width of proposed entrance.
  • An approved Entrance permit if you are on a Municipal Road, or an Entrance permit from the County of Peterborough if you are on a County Road such as 36, 507, 37, 121, or 49.
  • For properties on Fire Routes, an installed driveway is required.
  • Payment for the new number and installation.
    • The total cost for a new civic address is $100.00. This fee includes the cost of the materials and the installation of your new civic number.

Replacing a civic number

Once a civic number is installed for the first time, it is the owner's responsibility to maintain this sign. The fees for replacement civic numbers are:

  • Replacement sign - $25.00
  • Replacement post -$25.00
  • Installation cost - $50.00

For any replacement civic numbers or issues regarding your existing civic address, please contact the Recreation and Facilities Department.

Emergencies

We can't help you in an emergency if we can't find you. Know your civic address! You must be able to tell a 911 operator or Fire Department the civic address of your location. Your civic address may be different from your mailing address.

A complete civic address is made up of 3 parts:

  1. A civic number:          760
  2. A road name:              Peterborough County Road 36
  3. A municipality:           Trent Lakes
