Signs

You need to apply for a sign permit if you'd like to put up a sign in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Signs are regulated by our Sign By-law and our Comprehensive Zoning By-law

Apply for a sign permit

Please complete the Sign Permit Application and email it to Development. Review our Sign Information Package for more information about the application. 

Please include the following information with your application:

  • Drawing that shows the location of the sign in relation to other buildings, streets and boundary lines
  • Specifications for the erection of the sign and supporting framework
  • Fees

If you don't own the property, you'll need to also provide authorization from the property owner.

Prohibited signs

The following signs are prohibited in the Municipality of Trent Lakes:

  • Abandoned signs
  • Flashing signs
  • Video display signs
  • Roof signs
  • Inflatable signs
  • Vehicle or trailer signs
  • Pavement inscribed signs
  • Fence signs
  • Rotating or spinning signs
  • Canopy signs
  • Utility Pole signs
  • Sight triangle obstructing signs
  • Pedestrian and motorist view obstructing signs

County signs

Signs that are facing a County Road (36, 37, 49, 121, 503 and 507) are issued and governed by the County of Peterborough
