Wage: $22.65 per hour

Hours of work: The hours of work will vary based on work demand and availability

Department: Public Works, Non-Union

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing job related duties;
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as well as Ministry of Natural Resources regulations an asset;
  • Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules;
  • Demonstrate communication skills including the ability to listen and respond with tact and courtesy;
  • Exhibit a high level of initiative, work performance and responsibility in the performance of duties;
  • Process straight forward financial transactions as they relate to tipping fees and dog licenses;
  • Successful candidate will be required to work weekends and applicable holidays;
  • Reliable transportation to any of the four (4) transfer station sites.

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is accepting applications for Seasonal Recreation and Facilities Labourers. The successful candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Class ‘G’ License with a clean driver abstract.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Strong Health and Safety awareness.
  • Ability to maneuver trucks, trailers, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate landscaping and grass-cutting tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic building maintenance and ability to use various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Initiative and good judgement with limited supervision.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills
  • Valid Chainsaw Operator Certificate is an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset.

Department: Public Works Department

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is seeking a person to fill the position of Engineering Summer Student.

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be enrolled in school full-time for the 2024/2025 winter term (normally ending April, May, or June) and/or returning to school full-time in the 2025 fall term (normally starting in August or September).
  • Student is required to be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution in an environmental management program or an engineering program.
  • Previous co-op student experience in an engineering environment, an asset.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online and Asset Management Programs, an asset.
  • Working knowledge of GIS database and mapping standards.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid class “G” driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
  • Ability to read field change requests, road, and other construction design drawings.
  • Must be multi-task oriented and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or similar software program.

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is accepting applications for the position of By-Law Enforcement Officer.
Qualifications:
  • A University Degree or College Diploma in Law Enforcement, Security, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Certified Property Standards Officer (CPSP) and/or Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO) is preferred.
  • Experience with By-law Enforcement is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Municipal By-laws, applicable provincial and federal statute and regulations, rules of evidence, property rights, Freedom of Information and Privacy legislation, Municipal Act etc.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid class “G” driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
  • Judgment in interpreting vague or ambiguous policy or legislation.
  • Excellent judgement to exercise proper and full authority in a judicious service-oriented manner.
  • Skilled in resolving contentious issues appropriately and effectively.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong investigative skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to interpret all municipal by-laws and relevant legislation including Property Standards By-law.
  • Strong and effective oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, all levels of staff etc.
  • Proficiency and experience with Computer and programs.
