New to Trent Lakes

Welcome to Trent Lakes! As you settle into your new home, you will probably have lots of questions. The following information may help to make the transition a bit smoother.

New owners package

The Municipality of Trent Lakes will mail out a new owners package after we receive the registered transfer of ownership or deed. The package will include a copy of your tax bill, a newsletter, and a waste card or access pass.

Building

You will need a building permit if you are planning a new building or home renovation project. Contact the Municipality's Building and Planning department to find out more.

Garbage and recycling

The Municipality of Trent Lakes has four Transfer Stations located throughout the Municipality of Trent Lakes for the disposal of your waste and recycling. There is no curbside collection. Visit our Recycling and Garbage page for more information.

Property taxes

Property tax bills are issued twice a year. For your convenience, the Municipality offers a pre-authorized payment program. To find out more, visit our Payment Options page.

Water

Municipal water services are available in Alpine Village/Pirates Glen and Buckhorn Lake Estates. Visit our Water page to find out more.

Burn permit

You need a burn permit if you're having a brush fire or campfire. Visit our Burn Permits page to find out more.

Hydro

Hydro is provided to your home by Hydro One.

Internet, cable and phone

There are a number of companies that offer various communication services throughout the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Where you live will determine which services are available to you. The Government of Canada has provided a National Broadband Internet Service Availability Map to help you locate a service provider in your area.

Pets

The Municipality's Animal Control By-law requires all dogs to be registered and licensed. Registering your dog demonstrates responsible pet ownership. Dog tags help with the identification and safe return of your pet if it is found running at large. Dog tags can be purchased at the Municipal Office. Visit our Animal Control page to find out more.
