Waste Card and Access Pass

You are required to show a valid Waste Card or Access Pass in order to access any of our Transfer Station Sites. Waste Cards and Access Passes are valid from April 1 to March 31 each year.

Waste Card

Waste Cards are provided to every occupied residential property. The Waste Card is for the disposal of residential household waste. It also provides access into the Transfer Station Sites.

The Waste Card permits the disposal of an allotted number of clear garbage bags per year with no fee. Additional clear garbage bags can be disposed of and will be subject to a fee.

How do I get my Waste Card

The Waste Card is mailed out to the registered property owner of occupied residential properties. It is mailed out with the Interim Tax Bill in February of each year.

Lost Waste Cards

If you have lost your Waste Card, you will need to fill out the Replacement Waste Card Request Form. You can also email Public Works or contact the Municipal Office.

Access Pass

Access Passes are provided to non-residential properties, vacant property, hunt camps and recreational bush camps. The Access Pass provides access into any of the Transfer Station Sites.

How do I get my Access Pass

The Access Pass is mailed out to the registered property owner of non-residential properties, vacant property, hunt camps and recreational bush camps. It is mailed out with the Interim Tax Bill in February of each year.

Lost Access Pass

If you have lost your Access Pass, email Public Works or call the Municipal Office to request a replacement.

New property owners

If you recently purchased a new house or cottage here in the Municipality of Trent Lakes, you will receive a New Home Owners Package in the mail. Included in this package is your Waste Card.

If you recently purchased a non-residential or vacant property, you will receive an Access Pass in your New Home Owners Package.

Household Medical Waste Exemption

The household medical waste exemption form is for residents who need to take additional bags of garbage to the transfer station because of in-home medical treatment. The exemption offers an additional waste card at no cost to help manage the extra waste.

Residents would need to qualify for the Household Medical Waste Exemption by:

1. Completing the medical waste exemption form;

2. The form must go to the medical practitioner to confirm that in-home medical treatment is taking place and that extra waste may be produced. The medical practitioner must sign the form as well as provide a note to include with the form;

3. The completed form gets returned to the Municipal Office for consideration.

Why you must show a valid Waste Card or Access Pass each time you visit

By Law, the Municipality of Trent Lakes is required to confirm that those using the Transfer Station Sites are residents of Trent Lakes. We must also ensure that the waste that is being deposited at each site, originated within the Municipality. To ensure we comply with this requirement, Transfer Station Attendants check for a valid Waste Card or Access Pass. You will not be able to enter into the Transfer Station Site without one.
