Economic Development

Economic Development usually takes on three forms:

  • Business attraction.
  • Business retention and expansion.
  • Business creation.

All three of the forms seek to create primary jobs able to pay more than the average wage, increase the amount of income coming into the community from outside our market area, and create greater capital investment in our community. The goal is to attract a diverse group of businesses and industries to help insulate the community from economic shock in case specific sectors should fall on challenges.

The Municipality of Trent Lakes' Economic Development Coordinator's purpose is to synergize and coordinate the Economic Development activities and programs aimed at the Municipality of Trent Lakes specifically and in a targeted manner.

The Municipality of Trent Lakes conducted a COVID-19 Small business survey. The survey closed on October 8, 2021. Twenty-six Trent Lakes businesses participated. The Survey was conducted in advance of the Omicron outbreak, and does not capture the impact the stepping back of certain measures due to that outbreak had on the participating businesses.
What it does provide is insight into how those twenty-six businesses were faring about 2 years into the pandemic.
