Public education and fire prevention
Bi-weekly training by station is conducted along with online learning and theory. Throughout the year, larger training occurs with multiple stations. Our training is based upon our level of service and is imperative to firefighter development.
Each station has a apparatus check schedule that includes every firefighter from that station. They perform apparatus checks, ensuring each piece of equipment is clean, in the correct spot, in good working order, and has the proper amount of inventory. Crews also clean the station to keep it safe and orderly.
Volunteer Firefighters in Trent Lakes respond to the following types of calls:
- Ambulance assist and medicals
- Motor vehicle collisions
- Structure fires
- Grass and brush fires
- Spills, carbon monoxide and gas leaks
- Ice and water rescues
Firefighters carry a pager and may receive calls at any hour of the day. A firefighter then responds to their station and takes a apparatus to the incident.
Many firefighters have green flashing lights on their vehicles to show that they are responding to an emergency – please respect our firefighters and your fellow residents by pulling over when you see a green flashing light!
