Ice Storm Update – March 31 at 11:00am

Trent Lakes is continuing to feel the widespread impact of the recent freezing rainstorm.  

Here’s what you need to know right now: 

Road Conditions 

  • Emergency Operations are taking place before daily operations can resume. 
  • All staff and resources have been deployed to deal with this significant weather event. Some roads are blocked due to downed trees. 
  • Please do not report downed trees—crews are already working to clear them as safely and quickly as possible. 

Transfer Sites  

  • Transfer Sites will be operating at normal hours.
  • Due to the power outages the sites will not be accepting excess waste. Sites will be accepting household waste, brush and recycling.  

Open Air Burning 

  • Trent Lakes will be extending the allowance of daytime burning until further notice.
  • Please note that you require a burn permit to burn within the municipality of Trent Lakes.
  • Please comply with all the rules contained on the permit. 
  • To obtain a permit you can call 705-738-3800 ext. 230 or online.
  • Prior to starting an Open Air Burn you must contact our burn hotline at 705-738-3800 ext. 301. 

Municipal Office 

  • Municipal Office is closed today and will resume services April 1, 2025.
  • Phone and Internet services are limited.
  • Staff will be able to respond to voicemail messages beginning tomorrow. 

Power Outages 

  • Approximately 94% of properties in the County of Peterborough are without power (source: www.poweroutage.com). Crews are working hard to restore electricity.
  • Stay 10 metres away from any downed power lines and report them to 911 and Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
  • Report outages via text to 92887 (WATTS), the Hydro One app, or outage map. Tools update every 10 mins.

  • Call 9-1-1 for immediate danger to life or property
  • Non Emergency Police: 1 888 310-1122 
  • Non Emergency Fire: 705-738-3800 ext. 230 during office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
