Clear Garbage Bag Program
Like many communities in Ontario, you are required to use clear garbage bags when disposing of your waste in the Municipality of Trent Lakes.
Complying with the Clear Garbage Bag Program is easy
- Any garbage bags coming into the Transfer Station Sites must be clear
- Separate your blue box material and recycle
- Separate your divertible items and recycle them under the appropriate diversion program
- You can have one opaque grocery sized privacy bag in each clear bag
Transfer Station Attendants have the right to refuse your waste. If your garbage contains any blue box material or more than 20% of other divertible items, it will be refused.
Visit our Waste Diversion Programs page for information on our diversion programs available.
Your participation is key
Clear garbage bags encourage the proper sorting of waste. This helps to keep recyclables as well as hazardous wastes out of the landfills.
Your efforts have a positive impact on the environment, as well as worker safety.
What goes into your clear garbage bag
