In celebration of Earth Day and the Provincial Day of Action on Litter, the Municipality of Trent Lakes and the Environmental Advisory Committee are hosting our Clean Roadways Event!
Any resident who cleans up a roadside within Trent Lakes between April 22 - May 14, 2024, will be entered into a draw to win a FoodCycler valued at $499 plus tax (and as a bonus you helped the community and planet - pretty great, right?)
Fill out the online form here.
Watch your email! You will receive an email from publicworks@trentlakes.ca with instructions on how to pick up your safety vest(s), garbage bags and a free, one time waste card.
After receiving your supplies, it's time to clean! Choose a municipal roadway, grab a few friends or family, and clean in celebration of Earth Day!
Take a picture of you/your team with the garbage you've collected and email it to publicworks@trentlakes.ca. Then, drop off your waste at one of the Trent Lakes' sites.
The FoodCycler turns your food waste into a nutrient-rich soil!
The FoodCycler is easy to use and only requires one cubic foot of space and a power outlet to get started. Simply toss your food scraps into the bucket, press the button, and you’re done. The FoodCycler breaks down food waste into a tenth of its original volume and creates a dry, sterile, and nutrient-rich soil amendment you can use to enrich your garden soil. The carbon filtration system eliminates odours, making it perfect for indoor use.
Using electricity, the device dries and grinds food waste (fruit cores, vegetable peels, dairy, chicken bones, and more) into a dry, odourless, nutrient-dense by-product that is significantly reduced in weight and volume from its unprocessed state. The end product is free from bacteria, and weed seeds and food-borne pathogens are eliminated in the process.
I don't live in Trent Lakes, can I participate? |
Only residents living in Trent Lakes can participate. |
Which roads can we clean? |
The roadway must be a municipal road in Trent Lakes. Please contact our Public Works department if unsure of road eligibility. |
I am cleaning with other people, can they enter the contest? |
Yes! No matter how large the group, all participants can be entered into the draw. Be sure to enter their names in the online form in Step 1. |
I want to volunteer more time doing this, how can I apply? |
Our Adopt-A-Road program runs year-round. If you are interested in volunteering to help clean Trent Lakes' roadways, email publicworks@trentlakes.ca with your inquiry. |
Complete steps 1-4 before 4:30 p.m. on May 14, 2024 to ensure your entry into the FoodCycler draw! One (1) winner will be drawn on May 17, 2024 and notified over your phone number or email provided, with the first name being announced on social media.
