The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) is provincial legislation that establishes a right of access to information held by municipal governments.
MFIPPA also governs the collection, retention, use, disclosure and disposal of all corporate records regardless of medium (e.g. paper, electronic, video, etc.).
Many reports and other records are freely available without making a formal request. Before you make a request, please search our website or contact the department that holds the records to see if the documents are available.
If a formal request is required, you must submit the request in writing to the Clerk. Please complete the Request Form that is available on the Information and Privacy Commissioner's website and submit it along with the $5.00 application fee. The application fee can be paid by cash, cheque or debit at the Municipal Office.
We will begin processing your request on the date we receive the Request Form and application fee. We have 30 days to respond. Requests that involve a large number of records, an extensive search, or consultation with an external third party take longer to process. We will contact you to let you know about any timeline extensions.
We may charge additional fees under Section 45 of the Act if your request involves a great deal of staff time to complete or yields a large number of documents.
