Residents, and visitors to the Municipality of Trent Lakes are reminded that fireworks are only permitted at designated times of any given calendar year.
The Civic Holiday, Monday, August 1st long weekend, is a permitted period that fireworks are allowed between 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Exercise extreme caution if you are going to be setting off fireworks at any location within the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Be sensitive and aware of your surroundings and especially proximity to others. We do have an abundance of lakes and rivers, but we are also heavily forested. Your care and vigilance ensures their protection.
We ask that you not only respect the land but also that we are a diversity of people and pets in Trent Lakes. Both can be adversely affected by fireworks. From veteran's or other frontline workers suffering with PTSD, children with autism, to dogs and cats (and even some wildlife), fireworks can cause great distress. Designated times allow for preplanning and preparing ahead for families. Keep your fireworks within the designated window.
Fireworks are never permitted to be set off on, in, or towards any Municipally owned properties or parklands (this includes roadways, beaches).
Do not litter. Clean up after yourself. Dispose of all spent firework materials and any other garbage appropriately. It doesn't matter if you've been here for years, or a week or a day, you are a neighbour, so please be a good one.
If you have opted to have a bonfire make sure you've obtained a FREE burn permit on the Trent Lakes website to do any open air burning.
Have a Safe and Happy Civic Holiday and long weekend.
