Gannon's Narrows Bridge, located on County Road 16, will be undergoing repair work from September 5th to October 13th (dates subject to change) to repair damage caused by an over-height vehicle.
During this period, the bridge will be completely closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and reopened to traffic at night and on weekends.
Why is the bridge closed?
In the spring of 2023, the bridge was damaged as a result of impact from an over-height vehicle. The overhead structural components need to be replaced in order to maintain the structural capacity of the bridge.
Why is it necessary to close the bridge completely to all traffic?
The process to repair the overhead structural components requires that both lanes of traffic be closed completely to ensure worker safety and to allow damaged components to be removed and new components lifted into place and secured.
How can I monitor the bridge closure times and dates?
All updates to bridge closure times and dates (early opening/weather delays) will be posted to Peterborough County’s Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). You can also contact the County Communication’s department for updates at communications@ptbocounty.ca.
