Purpose and Effect of the Community Improvement Plan
Provincial legislation enables municipalities to adopt Community Improvement Plans (CIPs). A CIP is a planning and economic development tool that allows a municipality to provide grants and loans to property owners and tenants to promote building and property renovations, improvements, and development and redevelopment within a defined area of need known as a Community Improvement Project Area (CIPA).
The Buckhorn CIP has been in place since 2016. With the passage of time and the emergence of a number of key community improvement needs over the last several years, the Municipality of Trent Lakes undertook a review and updating of the Buckhorn CIP. The Municipality has now completed this review and prepared the Draft Buckhorn CIP, which has been circulated to commenting agencies. A total of six (6) incentive programs are included in the proposed Buckhorn CIP, including a clear list of eligible costs and requirements for each program.
Representation and Notification
Any person may attend the in-person or electronic public meeting and make written and/or oral submissions either in support of or in opposition to the proposed CIP Update.
